My Projects

Here are a selection of projects developed during my studies in Illustration at Nottingham Trent University.

Up, Up and Away

‘Up, Up and Away’ is a self-initiated project exploring immersive children’s storytelling through illustration and experiential packaging design. The project aims to spark wonder, imagination, and joy by creating a multi-sensory storytelling experience that extends beyond traditional books.

Designed with accessibility and emotional comfort in mind, it considers how illustration and interactive design can bring moments of escapism and creativity to children, particularly within challenging environments such as healthcare settings.

Surface Pattern Design

One of my most recent third-year projects focused on Surface Pattern Design. This self-initiated project explored surface pattern design and illustrative storytelling through the heritage and archives of Liberty London.

I created a series of repeat patterns inspired by different elements of Liberty’s heritage, focusing particularly on traditional woodblock printing, the brand’s long-standing connection to the Far East, and its iconic ditsy floral prints. The purpose of the project was to celebrate and educate audiences on Liberty’s iconic history through my own contemporary illustrative style and visual language.

Throughout the project, I combined hand-painted watercolour techniques with digital processes to develop layered and detailed repeat patterns. I also experimented with traditional printmaking methods, including woodblock printing, allowing me to further explore texture, craftsmanship, and the relationship between handmade and digital design practices.
