UP, UP AND AWAY
‘Up, Up and Away’ is a self-initiated experiential storytelling project created to explore how illustration and interactive design can provide moments of escapism, comfort, and creativity for children in healthcare environments. The project considers how storytelling experiences can become more accessible, engaging, and emotionally supportive through sensory and tactile forms of interaction.

Built around an original children's audio story following characters Ned and Archie on an imaginative adventure, the project combines illustration, packaging, and interactive design to create a multi-sensory storytelling experience. A series of tactile objects, printed materials, and packaging elements were designed to be explored alongside the audio narrative, helping bring key moments of the story to life through touch and play.
The project was later expanded to explore experiential display design, investigating how the story could exist within larger communal environments such as hospitals, libraries, and bookshops. Illustrated scenes were developed into a three-dimensional display installation, creating an immersive space that encourages curiosity, imagination, and engagement beyond the original storytelling product.
